Last year for July 4th weekend I went on a little canyoneering trip with a group of friends. We left on a Friday - drove the 12+ hours to Southern Utah... Camped near Zion's National Park...and the next morning (bright and early), we hit up the Canyons at Zions.

This was my first time going camping. And only my second time every repelling (if you count the one night my friend took a group of us to teach us the basics). It was SO much fun!!!
We did Birch Hallow, Orderville, and the Narrows canyon route in the park. It was beautiful and just so much fun repelling!

Me and Janice!

See that mud on the rock I'm standing on in the above pic?? And see the mud on my booty? Yeah - I slipped on that mud and got a little (lot) dirty.

One of the fun parts about cayoneering is just figuring out the different ways to get down certain parts of the Canyon. You had to be a little creative sometimes. We had a good group of guys that knew what they were doing and they took great care of us.

If you've been canyoneering in these canyons, you may recognize this (above). It's a part of the Canyon. And yep - that's me. I wish it was so blurry.

It was seriously SO much fun!! I want to go again! Actually - Dave (who organized this all last year) is taking another group this weekend. But unfortunately I couldn't make it.

We finished it off in the narrows...which I don't have pictures of. We walked through a few feet in the Narrows. It got dark and by the end, I was tired and hungry! But it was SO worth it. I think the only thing I would have changed is just to have gone with a big smaller group.
We rented a Condo in St-George for Saturday and Sunday night - so we headed there after the Canyons, cleaned up, ate some pizza and crashed.
The next day we went to church and relaxed at the condo playing games and stuff.

Then Monday we got back in the car for another 12+ (actually more like 15 hours with traffic) drive back! Of course it wasn't complete without a stop in Nevada somewhere to take a ride on the El D0rado roller coaster somewhere. :)
