10 Weeks

Ok, ok....I know it's been a while. And there is a good reason. 1 - I've been busy and 2 - Not a whole lot exciting going on that I have felt is blog worthy. But I figure I should still give you all a little update....

1 - Training Update

The 1/2 Marathon is only 10 weeks away!!! I can't believe it. It is flying by. I still have SO much work to do! SO, SO, SO, SO much work to do. But here is where I am at...

My longest runs.. I have done an 8.5 and a 9 mile run. Those were both 2 and 3 weeks ago. Last week and this week have been a bit of a struggle cause work decided to take over my life.
I haven't really been following any strict schedule. I try to get in whatever I can get in and go for as long as I feel I can go for. But I'm thinking with only 10 weeks left that I'm going to follow a schedule - which I'm putting together this weekend. I found some on runnersworld.com that i'm probably going to use.

Oh..don't ask.

Holly (she's the other fool in the pic above) and I have some major stair training to do! I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to climb 3700 stairs in the middle of 13.1 miles. The plan - find myself a football stadium with some good stairs and run up and down them for a long time! I need to start doing that soon!

I've lost a total of 40 pds since October-ish. (27 of those were lost since January when I started officially training). I'm trying to stay as strict as I can with what I eat until I go to China cause I'd like to lose a lot more.

2 - Guitar Hero..

I'm now at the Hard level! Yahoo!!! I finally beat Lou in the last medium level face-off. I hate Lou..in case you cared. :) The hard level is...well, hard. But i'm working on it! Ashley, I hear you are good? We need to have a little challenge online! :)

3 - Has this ever happened to you??

huh...well, it happened to me. Except I was sitting in my car and the thingy that usually releases itself when the tank is full decided not to release itself. That was fun. Luckily I didn't get too much gas all over me and my work clothes. Moral of the story...don't trust the thingy that is supposed to just stop itself.

ok - well that's it! 'til next time! :-)

Oh Happy Day!

A few weeks ago one of my most favoritest people ever came to town...Brian came to NYC!! I was so excited to see Brian 'cause he's one of my bestest friends and he lives so dang far away from me! The downside...he was only going to be in town for pretty much a day. And who flies to NYC all the way from LA for less than 48 hours? Well......apparently a guy who wants to surprise his girlfriend with a diamond ring and a little proposal. That's right my friends, Mr. Babcock is getting hitched! Who would have thought!?!!

I picked up Brian at JFK airport bright and early Saturday morning and we drove into Manhattan. Brian got ready for his big momment, we picked up some roses and we walked over to Central Park together where we waited for Ali...who had absolutely NO idea Brian was going to be in town.

I was so happy that I got to spend the morning with Brian before his big momment! I don't think I had ever seen him as happy and excited as he was waiting for Ali to get there. We had some time to kill...so we chatted and took a few pictures.....I think anytime I have my camera and Brian is around...we have at least one picture of us with crossed eyes....Definitely had to take another one to add to the collection! :)

Ali and her best friend Ashley (and a couple of other friends of Ashleys) finally made their way over to Central Park...It was all planned so perfectly..so when Ali walked up the stairs and saw Brian standing there with red roses, she was completely surprised. So much so that she wasn't really sure what to do! She finally ran over to him and Brian dropped to his knee...and the rest is history!

I had met Ali once before...but very briefly and before Brian and her were all that serious..So i was very excited to be able to meet her again and get to know her a little bit better! And I just absolutely love that girl! Not that you need it Brian...but I definitely approve! ;)

We all spent the rest of the day together...Brunch at this cute little restaurant, saw phantom of the opera, walked around a lot, and out to dinner. It was such a fantastic day! I am so excited for Brian and Ali and can't wait to go to their wedding in June! :)

Northern Illinois University

I was in complete shock when I found out about the shootings that took place at Northern Illinois University yesterday. I lived in Dekalb, IL for 7.5 months of my mission. NIU was a part of my area and we spent many days tracting around the student housing and setting up booths on campus. Unfortunately, we hear about these kinds of shootings a little too often these days. But this time it just feels a little too close to home. My heart goes out to the victims of the shooting yesterday and their families.
