I'm a Fan

Yep - I admit it...This summer I watched and got addicted to the show.."So You Think You Can Dance"...which for those who don't know - it's the same concept as American Idol except it's dancing. Except in my opinion...the dancers on this show are more talented than the singers on American Idol.

Well...both my roommate and I liked the show so much that when we found out they were going on tour, we decided to get tickets! Turns out a lot of people wanted to get tickets...apparently the first show in NYC sold out within 10 minutes of tickets going on sale. Luckily they opened up a second show...but by the time we got tickets the best available were in the top corner of the theather (it was in the Madison Square Garden theater)...Here is a picture of our view of the stage...

Ok - so they were not the best seats in the house...but it was defnitely still worth spending the $$$ to see Benji and Travis and the other dancers do their thing.

Aly (my roommate), Brie (Aly's sister-in-law) and me during intermission of the show. We had so much fun!! We are definitely all Benji fans (yes - I even voted for him when the show was on! and I never vote for any of those things!!) Ok - go ahead...make fun of me! I can take it! - All I can say is...I'm a fan! :)

It's Definitely Not a Mustang...

So - I'm not exactly sure what it is with my recruiting trips...but I always get an unexpected car. Last time...it was a Mustang! Which I definitely didn't complain about. And this time......

A Chevy HHR! huh? yeah - that's what I said...! I went to get my "Grey Chevy HHR" and the Avis guy asked me if I wanted an HHR for a reason. "No" - I said...as i thought to myself.."What the heck is an HHR anyway!?!" As it drove up.....I thought - "I have NEVER had a desire to ever drive in one of these things..."

So - if any of you are like me...clueless as to what a Chevy HHR is...it's one of those ugly box looking cars - basically a PT Cruiser wannabe! Yep! Take a look....

Oh - and to make matters worse...it was NOT gray as the Avis person had described it to me..It was Purple! How lucky was I to be able to cruise around Provo and Rexburg in this Purple HHR??

Yeah...I was a little embarrassed to be driving it at first...but since it was just a rental, I got over it..and it ended up being an ok car. It was comfortable and had lots of room. But it's definitely not a mustang...and it's definitely not anything I would ever buy.

Another Recruiting Trip

Almost 2 weeks ago I got to go back to Utah again to help out with some Recruiting at BYU. It was interview week....so I had to go to the pre-interview dinner and then the following day help greet candidates at their interviews all day long.

Liz, Darren, and I enjoying the fact that we are back at BYU recruiting and not at the office working! :)

Breakfast at TGI Friday's....We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott...so we got together for breakfast...Now that I think about it, we should have gone to Magbleby's for some all you can eat French Toast..oh well, next time!

Cafe Rio! I met Charlotte and Terri there for lunch. And yes - this was my second time eating it in 3 days. I would have had it again before I left...but I went up to Idaho to see my bro.

CRAIGO'S!! Ok - if any of you went to Ricks College....you will remember the pizza hang out..Craigo's! Well - it has changed a lot! It has changed locations, the score board is gone...and basically...it's more of a family restaurant rather than a college hang out now. But the cheese sticks and the pizza bomb's are still good! By the way....The other two people in the picture with Dave, Kim and I is my friend Wes and his girlfriend.

Wes is a mission friend of mine and it was a lot of fun to see him.

Dave was doing his homework most of the time that I was there...This is a picture of Kim's eye...The small one is the actual picture and Dave's assignment is to make his painting look the same as the picture.... (And if you want to see the other painting he was working on while I was there...click on the link to his blog)

Rexburg, ID Temple in Progress...

The next couple of pictures are for my Mom...she wanted to see some pictures of Dave and Kim's apartment...

I wanted to get a picture of Dave and Kim outside their apartment...but I think the Sun was a little too bright for them! If you zoom in to Dave's face...well, it's really funny! :)

So - the Recruiting trip was great! It was nice to have some time off work...and can you believe I actually didn't work at all while I was there! :) I was dreading coming back to Connecticut and back to work! And for good reason...cause the first couple of days back weren't so fun.

BYU vs Boston College

My friend Jaime, her bro and myself made the trip up to Boston for the BYU/Boston College game. And even though I was exhausted from working over 90 hours the week before and was basically going on no sleep, it was worth it and it was a lot of fun. It sucked that we lost...but at least it was a good game.

Our view - we had some good tickets. We got them late - so we weren't sitting in the BYU section...but there were scattered BYU fans throughout the entire stadium. I think BYU fans could have easily filled the stands in one of the end zones.

This was BYU's first touch down of the game!

The 3 of US trying to keep our eyes open from the sun that was shining right in our faces! It was such a nice day - It was hot! I think that was probably the most sun I've gotten all summer (since i'm always inside) so it was great!

And of course the Cheerleaders.......Raa, Raa, Raa...GOOOOOO COUGARS! :)

Another Visit and More Pictures!

I know Emily is thinking...Finally! :) Yes - a month later I'm finally posting the pictures from her little visit to my side of the Country. Emily was out east the last week of August and she was able to spend a couple of days with me...which was great! I worked my butt off all week so that when she was here on the weekend I wouldn't have to work...(She was here on a Sunday and Labor Day Monday...so you would think I wouldn't have to work anyway...but that's another story).

I met Emily in New Haven after her trip to Boston and we walked around Yale Campus. It still confuses me when I see people with "Y" on hats and sweaters out here. I always have to remind myself that it is not BYU that the Y is referring to.

Yale is a beautiful campus. I haven't seen all of Harvard campus...but out of the two - I think I like Yale better. The buildings are just so old and beautiful. So much history.

Monday - Labor Day....Em and I took the train to NY for some sightseeing...and here are a few pictures...

ah.....don't ask! :)

We took the train to Grand Central Station...

And then took the subway to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This was my first time to the Met. Emily is a big Museum person....Me, not so much! I can go to just about any museum and go through the entire thing in about an hour. I like art...but I look and move on.

So - I did a lot of sitting in the Museum while I waited for Emily to catch up to my fast pace! :) And I had absolutely no problem with that...I'm just glad Emily enjoyed it!

Yes - that's me on the bench again! :)

Modern Art - it is always so....interesting. Sometimes I wonder who is the person to determine what goes in a Museum..

I took Emily to Lombardi's Pizza.....and then we hit up Rice to Riches right accross the street.

And then of course...we went to the (free) staten island ferry. Much better weather than when Myra was in town...so i got a few better pictures this time around.

Emily with Lower Manhattan in the background..

Brooklyn Bridge

Lower Manhattan

So - because the sun was so bright, I couldn't really see when I was taking this picture..but it looked like it might be cool...so I took a few. I like how it turned out with the sun on the water.

And of course...the Statue of Liberty!

Us on the Ferry!

A shot of Brooklyn - I like this picture.

After the Ferry ride we went up to Time Square and some tourists were kind enough to take our picture after they had us take theirs.

This is in the Time Square Toys R US Store..which I think is one of the coolest stores in NYC. It has a ferris wheel inside the store and just a lot of fun things..

And if you like Hershey Chocolate....you'll like this store.

It was a fun day. We really wanted to go see a broadway show..but just a note to any of you that might be planning on coming to visit me - Monday is a bad day to try to see a show b/c most of them don't have any shows on Monday.
