I learned an important lesson today...Never, Never, NEVER make popcorn at work!!! Cause it just might set off the fire alarm! :-)
At about 7 or 7:30 this evening, I was studying at work and getting a little hungry...and I remembered that I had brought a bag of popcorn to work a while back that I had never ate. So, I took it over to the little kitchen area, put it in for 2 minutes, and voila...a great snack! BUT...just as soon as i opened the Microwave door and opened the bad of popcorn the fire alarm went off!!! (The poporn by the way was NOT burnt...ok...maybe it could have come out like 5 seconds earlier...but i wouldn't call it burnt!)
Not knowing what to do...I went back to my desk...looked on sametime (our office instant messenger) and started telling my friend in the San Fransisco office what I had just done!!! :) I had no clue what to do! Do I tell someone? Do I just wait? The alarm was sooo loud!! So, I packed up my things, stuffed the popcorn in my bad and headed downstairs. By the time I got down, there was already a firetruck outside. And some people from the office sitting in the lobby! I came out of the elevator chuckling and said, "it was me!!...I made popcorn!!" I then pulled my popcorn out and just lauged at myself!!
I dropped my bags and sat down and started eating the popcorn...and even offered it to my co-workers! They were all just laughing right along with me! Or at me... :)
I overheard the firemen that had gone upstairs call down on their walkie-talkie thing saying, "Someone made popcorn...we're all clear" They eventually turned the alarm off and we were able to go back up to our desks!
HA! I'm still laughing just thinking about it!!! Do you think it's a sign that the firemen keep having to come to rescue me!?!! :) One thing is for sure though...I'm NEVER going to make popcorn at work again!!

Just like a Kid in a Candy Store
I didn't really know the effect arcade games could have on me until....it was all free!! Let's be honest here, I love free stuff. No matter what it is, if it's free..I like it! It could be the more worthless piece of junk...but if it's free...i'll take it!
Early this week I had to go to Cleveland, Ohio for a couple of days of training for work. It was absolutely the worse training I've had to sit through. I arrived at the hotel on Sunday and studied most of the evening. Then we spent all of Monday in class and listening to the same stuff that I had heard at different training sessions prior to this one. And then Monday night...we all went to Dave & Busters for some food and fun...
Dave & Buster's is a restaurant with a MAJOR arcade room! When we got to the restaurant we were given tickets for free drinks and a game card with 50 credits or dollars or something on it...but since I don't drink...I ended up trading the free drinks other people's game cards and eventually ended up with 3 of them! And boy was I excited! I was swiping that card over and over again...and having the time of my life! I played basketball, dance dance revolution, and much more! I didn't get close to finishing off the 3 cards 'cause I ran out of time...
As I'm sure most of you know...when you play arcade games you win these tickets that you can trade in for prizes. Well, when I realized I didn't have enough time to use up my cards I started using it on this one game that you just hit a button trying to get the light to stop in the right spot to win as many tickets as possible. Well, I hit the jackpot and ended up winning 450 tickets!! :)
I was soooo excited!! I seriously looked like a kid that had just walked into a candy store and was told I could have whatever I wanted. I didn't want to leave! I mean how many times do you get to go to an arcade and basically play all you want and not feel bad about wasting money!?!! Like, NEVER!
When we finally had to go Liz and I ended up cashing our tickets in for these frogs! We were so excited! What can I say...I'm still a kid at heart! :)
Tuesday we were back in training and I was having an even harder time trying to keep my eyes opened because I had stayed up way to late talking with Liz! It was so good to see some friends from school! I think that is the thing I miss the most about BYU...the people.
Here is a picture of Darren, Tina, Me, Emily and Liz during our lunch break at training! It was a good trip...not the training part...but the rest of it.

Half Way There!!!
You might recall from previous posts that I've been studying for and taking the CPA exam. I took one part in mid-July and another part at the end of August. And I've been patiently waiting to hear about whether or not I passed. Of course, a part of me was quite satisfied not knowing because I feared the worse! It would be much better not knowing my score than knowing I would some day have to go through the same grueling process of studying all over again in hopes of passing.
Well, after working all day and going to the city for my basketball game (My firm has a team that plays in an NYC league)...I walked into my apartment and saw the letter sitting on the kitchen table! It FINALLY came! For a second I almost ignored it fearing the results...but if you know me, you know that I can't not know!!!
So, I opened it and quickly scanned the page looking to see if I had passed. They list all four sections on the page with either "Credit" or "No credit" next to the exam. My heart almost skipped a beat as I saw listed "Credit" next to the first one listed and then "No credit" next to the second one....but then I quickly realized that they list even the exams that you haven't taken! The third one listed said "Credit" next to it! It was then that I realized that I passed! I, of course, had to look at it several times to make sure I wasn't dreaming!
What a relief!! it felt sooooooo good!!!! I still have 2 more sections of the exam to go, but I'm half way there! What a great feeling!
On another note...I haven't really posted any pictures lately! So, here are a couple. A couple of weeks ago, I went up to Boston...well, more like Harvard cause that's where the LDSSA education conference was held that I went to. Charlotte lives up in boston...So i got to stay at her place and hang out with her! Here is a picture of Charlotte and I at the end of the conference before I headed back down to Connecticut (by the way..it took me 2 hours and 15 minutes to get home!..Not too bad!):
The next picture is of Me, "Aunt Christine", with Caleigh, Jake and Paige! This is actually from the day the came over for dinner and we had the little 911 incident! (see entry below). They are cute, fun...and quite the handful! Trying to keep them entertained was a major task!
